Well folks, our Refer a Friend program has finally begun, and you have to check it out. The premise is this: you refer a friend, you get an entry into our drawing for the iPod Touch. Every additional friend referenced is another entry. Finally, if one of your referrals comes through to our business, we will enter you in a private drawing that will take place at the end of the year. It's our way of giving back to you.
Sign up at our homepage and click on the Refer a Friend button. We'll see you there.

Best of the Best

When we think of our all-time favorite movie characters, the usual suspects come up. James Bond, Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, and more. However, for me, I like going with my man "Dirty" Harry Callahan, a rogue inspector in San Francisco. Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor, and has been a legendary leading man for years. Eastwood has excelled in roles in the Dollars Trilogy, The Gauntlet, Escape for Alcatraz, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and as recent as Gran Torino. All his movies provide a great escape for the moviegoer, which is why he is the best of the best.
I'm off to have some fun tonight up at beautiful Wrigley Field, so I won't be able to post later this evening. However, we will have a Q & A with agent Tai Cruise up tomorrow. So be prepared.
Today's song choice comes from one of my favorite bands, The Arcade Fire. This song is so cool, and it's off their debut album, Funeral. The song title is "Rebellion (Lies)". Enjoy it, and take a listen to their other stuff as well.

Sunday Evening

Well, there sure is nothing better than getting together with the family and having a nice Sunday dinner. Tonight, we headed over to my grandparent's and had what could be our last cookout of the dying summer. The weather is definitely cooling off, and it's looking more and more like autumn.
To savor these last few days of warmth, get outside with your friends or family, because we both know that come the cold snowy winter days, we're going to want to be out in the warm sun just one more time.
Tonight's song selection comes from one of my absolute favorite bands. Here's "Stuck Between Stations" by the Hold Steady. It mentions one of my favorite novels of our time in the opening line as well. See if you catch it. Enjoy it. I love it.
Come back tomorrow for a Q & A of our Inside Look at Bekan column. We'll be interviewing another one of Bekan's fantastic insurance agents. In the meantime, if you're looking for the lowest rates on your home, auto, life or commercial insurance, visit us at Bekan or call us at 800.894.8225 for a free quote. We're here for you.

Facebook Additions

So, we've made some cool additions to our Facebook page. Also, we have it linked to our Twitter account so you can check it out quite easily.
We're working to add friends to our Facebook page. Additionally, for every 20th person added to our page, we will give you an extra entry into our iPod Touch drawing. It's worth it, that thing is really cool.
Again, visit us here to join us on Facebook and here to follow us on Twitter. See you soon!
Oh, I can't forget the song of the day. We'll go with "Northern Lights," by The Bowerbirds. What a relaxing song on a cool summer night. Have a great one.

Drive Somewhere

The title comes from a song I just can't get out of my head. The Vulgar Boatmen profess they are simply going to drive somewhere after an incident. Hopefully they were insured...
Just kidding. I won't make that cheap of a ploy to get you to visit Bekan and sign up for the best prices on auto insurance around. However, I will make the attempt to get you to listen to this song. Check it out. The song is called "Drive Somewhere" and it's by The Vulgar Boatmen. I guess this qualifies as your tune of the day.
Have a great night, and if you drive somewhere, make sure you are insured. If you aren't, visit our website and sign up for a free quote and we will get back to you as soon as possible. See you soon!
Inside Look at Bekan: Russ Hamm Part II
Continuing on with our Inside Look at Bekan column, and Part I, which you can see here at our Bekan site, here is Part II of our interview with agent Russ Hamm.
Me: "Alright to fill everyone in, on the Bekan site we've already gone through your time here, some prior jobs and some of your hobbies. Now we're going to move on to some more fun stuff. Real quick, give me your dream job."
RH: "You mean this isn't the dream? (Laughing) No, but really, I'd love to be the General Manager for the Chicago Cubs."
Me: "Ah, you and I both. I like some of the moves Jim Hendry's made, but others are just head scratchers. You think you'd do better?"
RH: "Most definitely. I don't care how important money was, you just don't get rid of team leaders like Mark Derosa and Kerry Wood. I can't fathom why that was even done. And now you see what happens."
Me: "I completely agree. This team has no leadership. It's the clear cut problem of this year's
team. Well, that and nearly our entire team forgetting how to hit. I know you're a Cubs fan, but what's your favorite sports team?"
RH: "Wow! Tough question. It either has to be between the Cubs and IU basketball. But I can't say I'm too proud of either right now."
Me: "Favorite baseball player?"
RH: "I've gotta say Yaz. Carl Yastrzemski. He was one of a kind."
Me: "Alright, I can't wait to get out to Vegas. What's the best you've ever done out there?"
RH: "Ah, not too long ago I made around $3,000 playing Blackjack and Craps. That was a great time. Those were the days."
Me: "That's a nice penny right there. Maybe I'll win something like that."
Me: "Complete change of pace here, but what is your favorite movie?"
RH: "Without a doubt, The Usual Suspects. You never see that ending coming, man."
Me: "Great call. What about a favorite band?"
RH: "Hmm, not a huge music guy. I like whatever's playing. But, I really did like Hootie & the Blowfish when they were still making music."
Me: "Favorite beverage?"
RH: "Anything light. Busch Light, Miller Light, etc."
Me: "Alright, we're winding down a bit now. What's your dream vacation, or visit somewhere?
RH: "It's gotta be a Cubs World Series game at Wrigley Field. That would just be unbelievable."
Me: "Oh yeah, they'd have to win it, though."
Me: "Ok, last question. It's my favorite. What's your favorite place to get a pizza?"
RH: "Oooh, I've gotta go with Pascale's in St. John. They make a great pie. So does Rosati's. And don't sleep on Rock 'n Roll Outpost. All of their food is just great."
Me: "Thanks for your time Russ. It's been fun. The readers are gonna love it."
RH: "Thank you, B. Enjoy it everyone."
You can get insurance from Russ and our other great agents at Bekan. You can reach us here at 800.894.8225. Hope to see you soon. We'll save you tons of money.

So Much Excitement
Well folks, here at Bekan Insurance Group things are starting to roll. We've started a new Twitter account that you can reach here, since our old one hit the deck. Also, our sales promotions are in full force and our contest for a brand new iPod Touch is going great. Things are coming along very nicely!
Also, in the coming hours, I'll have an interview with another one of our Bekan workers, Russ Hamm. He's a great agent for us, and he is consistently working to save you money. In fact, just yesterday Russ saved a client $450 on a 4 unit apartment building by switching them from Allstate to Pekin Insurance. Call us at 800.894.8225 and ask for Russ. He'll save you money!
Read up on him later on today!

Here Comes Fall
Well, summer is officially coming to an end. However, it's not all bad. My favorite season is definitely fall. Baseball's playoffs come into play, hockey and basketball start, and the weather is great.
It's also a time to get insurance. While we're past times of tornadoes and fierce storms, it's always a good time to suit up before the long, cold winter comes. It also gives us a respite from the bad weather to come.
So if you are looking for home, auto, life or commercial insurance, call 800.894.8225 or visit Bekan and fill out a FREE quote on our secure form. When you're done, one of our tremendous insurance agents will contact you with the lowest prices we can find.
Enjoy those final days of summer!

What News Channel is Best?
Watching the news every night can be tough. If you're interested in finding out what's going on in the world, who do you look to? The matter of trust you need to have with both a reporter and the station. For instance, MSNBC has a heavy left-wing bias, while Fox News is on the conservative side of things. CNN shows off Wolf Blitzer, while Fox throws out Rush Limbaugh. Who is correct? Who do you trust?
In my case, I take my news to the comedic side of things. To me, there's no better hour of television than The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. You get the big time news stories with their humorous spin on things along with interviews with newsworthy celebs and even music performances from time to time. It's a perfect set-up, and I trust what they are throwing at me.
Whichever newscast you watch, make sure you are properly informed. Don't be the guy or gal at work who has no idea what is going on in the world.
And in usual perfect segue form (it's really the hardest part of this, and that segue wasn't even good), make sure you are properly insured. Bekan Insurance Group can do it for you here by giving you a FREE quote and then contacting you when we get the results. It's SOOOOOO easy, I think anyone is capable. Truly anyone.
You can also call us at 800.894.8225 to talk to one of our trusty agents. We hope to hear from you soon!

Inside Look at Bekan: The Author
Today I realized something. No matter what I do with my life, part of me will always be a blogger. Plain and simple, I love to write, and I am able to do that with this job.
So, part of the Inside Look at Bekan, I will take you through the personnel that works for Bekan Insurance Group. The ultimate plan is to interview each person, and give you a look into how we work for you. The first person on the list is...guess who? ME!
My name is Brendan. I'm a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, where I got my Marketing degree from the storied Kelley School of Business. Currently, I'm working as an Online Marketing Specialist for Bekan Insurance Group, blogging my little fingers away for you all.
I've been a blogger for the past few years. I started writing my personal blog at A Lean Night, then currently at my sports blog, JV Backups, Bekan's Official Blog, and here. I have gained a good amount of experience, and I enjoy doing it every day. Additionally, I am a huge sports and music fan. I have already showed you a bit of both in my work here. I love the Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, and golf. On the music side of things, some of my favorite artists are Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, The Hold Steady, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Modest Mouse, Cassino and many, many more. I love music. It does great things for people.
Thus, I'll be doing something here that I did frequently on A Lean Night. I'll end each blog with a song referral and a link to its Youtube video. It's just another way I like to give my readers an inside look into my life.
So, today's song of the day comes from a song that I just can't get out of my head lately. It's "All My Friends," by LCD Soundsystem. The song lets us know that we always need friends, especially as we age. Go drop everything after work and meet your friends. Along with your family, they will always be the most important part of your life.
And, I guess it wouldn't be a Bekan blog if I didn't reference you over to our parent site. While you're there, check out the official blog, get yourself a free insurance quote, and even enroll in our drawing to win a FREE iPod Touch. Believe me, it's worth it.
(On our next edition of Inside Look at Bekan, we will interview the head honcho, Jim Langen.)

Schoolhouse Rock
Well, looks like I'm a jinx, eh? As soon as I push the Tiger-angle, he can't come through. Tiger, I'm responsible for this. My bad...
Well, me and your lack of shot making and the worst putting I've seen in years. Yeah, that too.
This week marks a big week for a lot of us, both parents and children. School is starting for many kids around the local areas. It's time for some of them to have their final year before heading away to college. For others, it's their first go-around in a higher level. In either case, it's a new beginning.
So, this one is for the kids. We at Bekan Insurance Group wish you the best this year. Make us proud.

Once in a Lifetime
It should be known by now that I am a huge golf fan. I've proclaimed that golf is one of my favorite activities, especially during beautiful summer days like today in Indiana.
However, just a few states north of us in Minnesota, Tiger Woods is tearing up the season's final major, the PGA Championship. He's carrying the lead into our final day with a chance to win his 15th Major, leaving him just 3 behind the all-time leader, Jack Nicklaus. To top that, Tiger has now lead 15 times going into a final day at a Major and has never lost! Folks, what we are seeing today, is a once in a lifetime experience. Thus, I highly recommend tuning in tomorrow afternoon to watch Tiger's push for the all-time record.
And, since I'm in a fun mood today, I thought I'd throw out a song to be heard. Just like the title, this is "Once in a Lifetime" by the Talking Heads. Good tune. Good stuff, maybe too much good stuff.
As always, if you're looking for the lowest rates on the best home, auto, life and commercial insurance in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, check our site here and enter your information into the secure form. Our dedicated agents will then contact you. It's such a simple process, and one that is guaranteed to save you money!

Best Summer Activity
On a beautiful sunny day like today, what is the best outdoor activity? Swimming, barbecuing, picnicking? All of them are great ideas. However, my favorite is golfing. To me, there is nothing more relaxing (or infuriating, if you aren't playing well!) than playing a nice round of golf with friends. If you have never played, give it a shot. It will frustrate you at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will definitely enjoy playing.
Recently lots of golf courses in Indiana have been bought under new ownership. These courses need insurance, too. And Bekan Insurance Group is the place to get covered. Whether it's golf course insurance or contractor's insurance, we are the place for your business to become properly insured at the best rate. Call us at 800.894.8225 to speak with one of our great agents or visit Bekan to quote yourself on our secure network, then we will take care of the rest. We are your top choice for home, life, auto, and commercial insurance in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.

Fan Insurance
As I sit watching the Cubs-Phillies extra inning thriller, I'm sitting here wishing I could buy insurance on me watching the Cubs all season. I mean, I watch nearly every game. I put in ridiculous amounts of time to this team and usually they just throw darts into my spine. I figure the fan insurance would be something like insurance in Blackjack, where you can put money on the dealer having 21 so you could get your bet back. Except in my case, I would pay money to forget about all the heartbreak from the time I put in.
Yeah, that would definitely interest me. Too bad. I don't think we'll ever see something legal (or healthy) that can put the mind at ease like that.
In the meantime, if you are looking for real insurance, head over to Bekan to get the lowest rates and the best coverage. Hope to see you there!
(Update: Go figure. As soon as I post this the Phils hit a home run in the 12th. Now, I really need that insurance.)
